GOUVERNe Guidelines for the Organisation, Use and Validation of information systems for Evaluating aquifer Resources and Needs

The Centre d'Economie et d'Ethique pour l'Environnement et le Développement (C3ED) is a University-based research centre located within the Department of Economics of the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ), a major publicly funded university coming under the French national research and higher education administration. The university is situated on the western side of Paris and has major programmes in the natural sciences, humanities, law, technology and computer science faculties (among others). The centre's research is organised in six thematic axes:

I.     Durability of modes of consumption and ways of life (responsible: Professor Jacques Charmes);
II.   Environmental Valuation and Natural Capital (responsible: Prof Marc Bied-Charreton);
III. Ethics and Sustainable Development (responsible: Professor Régis Mahieu);
IV. Decision-making support and governance in setting sustainable development policies (responsible: Professor Sylvie Faucheux);
V.   Territorial dimensions of sustainable development (responsible: Professor Denis Réquier Desjardins).
VI. Globalisation, institutions and sustainable development (responsible: Doctor Claude Serfati). Collectively, the C3ED research team represents a broad base of disciplines - chiefly, economics, philosophy, environmental sciences and sociology - and a variety of different professional experiences and backgrounds. Many members are well known internationally in the economics and social sciences communities, with publications in academic journals and books, teaching, presentations, and workshop organisation. The C3ED has a long record of contract work for public and private sector clients, including French government, European agencies, and major national and multinational firms. It has also developed a special skill on questions of managing the science-society interface for environmental problems, and its researchers are prominent in many European research projects and expert advisory networks. Work is carried out in both English and French, with individual capabilities in several other European languages (Spanish, German, and Italian).
